What’s brewing in student council

As all of you probably know, last week was one of our High School Spirit Weeks! While the Grade 7 and 8s also held a spirit week, the daily themes were different. A large number of students and teachers alike had lots of fun dressing up and showing their Sacred Heart school spirit.

The week was off to a cozy start with PJ day on Monday, which is quite fitting considering how tired we all are on Monday mornings. Additionally, in support of Down Syndrome Awareness Week, you could pay two dollars and wear a hat in the school. All the proceeds from this went to the National Capital Down Syndrome Association. On Tuesday, people sported jerseys of their favourite teams from all sorts of sports such as hockey, basketball, and football. Even with the diverse choices of jerseys, many showed their support for our Ottawa Senators who just had their first regular season home game on October 14th.

The next day was spent guessing what celebrities people were dressed as! Singers, actors, athletes... you name it. Thursday’s grade wars was a fun throwback as every grade donned a different fashion style from a past decade. The grade nines recreated the sixties; the tenth graders, the seventies; the grade elevens, the eighties; and finally the grads wrapped up our trip through time with the nineteen-nineties. Lastly, on Friday, we celebrated Halloween by wearing costumes to school. It made the day more fun and entertaining to see everyone’s silly and spooky outfits. Our school admin and front office team did not disappoint with their yearly themed costume tradition; this year they were decked out as Alice in Wonderland characters!

A big thank you to everyone who participated in this Spirit Week; let’s hope the next one is just as fun!
