Why should you give back to your community... other than because it’s required to graduate?
“It feels good, and it is great, not just for me but for the community,”
says Ayla Williams, grade 10.
You might wonder - how are students supposed to find community volunteer opportunities for forty hours over four years— almost two entire days long? You could help with Christmas parades, charity fundraisers, or like some Sacred Heart students, you could help prepare the jumps for a horseback riding competition. On Thanksgiving weekend, some students got together at Wesley Clover Parks and spent an afternoon painting logs for the competition that will take place next week, the first time the field is going to be used since before the COVID-19 quarantine. Over the past weekend of October 16th, some Sacred Heart students also volunteered at the 9runrun race in stittsville.
Another incredible volunteer opportunity that is available is virtually tutoring other students at Sacred Heart. You can sign up easily by completing the Google form located in the daily written announcements You could also help the Ottawa Therapy Dogs fill envelopes and add stamps. Check the school’s daily announcements for more links. There are many great charitable causes in our community, so keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities to connect with our community and show how much HEART Sacred students have!
