Sign Of The Times

Spring has sprung and that doesn’t just mean more rain or sprouting flowers! As we enter the last few months of the school year, we make the switch from winter sports to spring sports.

With the hockey season finished and the last of the basketball games being played, we transition into badminton and rugby tryouts. The badminton season is set to get started in the first weeks of April and the rugby season is getting underway with practices both in our gyms and at the Sensplex fieldhouse. Lacrosse is also scheduled to get started in the coming weeks and with Coach Grills looking to get the season off to a good start, tryouts begin before school on April 6th.

Warmer weather means outdoor sports will be back in full effect once fields are dry enough to play on. Looking ahead to these drier times, soccer, softball and baseball will also be making their return. Huskies girls soccer is starting back up as Coach De Luca readies for the upcoming season. The 20th annual girls softball tournament organized by Merivale High School will take place on May 19th and Mrs. LeBoutillier, coach of the Tier 1 softball team, is looking to enter what is sure to be one of Sacred’s strongest teams into additional tournaments. The baseball season is also set to get underway in May and the team will certainly be looking to maintain Sacred’s reputation as being a competitive team in their division.

As a result of the pandemic, spring sports haven’t been played since the 2018/19 school year! So it is safe to say that the Huskies have been waiting to get back to dominating athletics in the spring time, as some of our best sports are played in this season! Keep up to date with the scores and results because Sacred Heart is going to come back in full force! Listen for the announcements and check the tryout board outside the gym because there are plenty of teams to be a part of in the next coming months!
