Huskies Hit the Ice!

The gradual return of sports teams and activities to the school this year has definitely boosted the morale of Sacred Heart. And we can expect there to be many more smiles hiding under masks now that Stitsville’s favourite sport, hockey, is in season.

There is a girls team and a boys team, both for grades 9-12. Practices are held once per week at the CRC so the players get lots of ice time and preparation for the tournaments.

The female team is coached by Mrs. LeBoutillier, Mr. Croteau and Mr. Brisson, while the boys are coached by Mr. Doherty, Mr. McCloskey and Mr. Grills.

The boys team had their first tournament day on Thursday, February 24th at the Minto Recreation Complex in Barrhaven. There were six participating schools and nine games in total. Out of the three Sacred Heart played, they tied the first one with Immaculata and won the other two with amazing scores of 3-0 and 3-2 against Pierre-Savard and St. Pius. Everyone played really well, with honourable mentions to two exceptional players, Nolan Rogers and Jacob Billo. Keep up the good work!

The boys are going to a tournament again soon and the girls have theirs on February 28th. We wish you the best of luck. Go get ‘em Huskies!
