Bi-Weekly Biography

Updated: Sep 19, 2021

Caroline Teresita Kelly is a grade 12 student originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland who enjoys painting and staying fit. She moved to Ottawa in 2019 and started at Sacred Heart in the fall. One day she saw a commercial where a woman filled a bag with necessities for those experiencing homelessness. That inspired Caroline ti create a change in her community. Formerly known as “Blessing Bags Ottawa”, Caroline’s charity “The Helpful Hand” helps the homeless in Ottawa.

On Thannksgiving weekend, Caroline partnered with the Ottawa Mission, an organization that serves over 3000 meals a day at 1;00pm to those in need. Along with helping serve meals, Caroline filled 101 bags with masks, socks, and other hygiene products. While her website is still in the works, Caroline has a GoFundMe, where people can donate to “The Helpful Hand”, so that she can purchase necessities through a wholesaler to buy in bulk for less. This winter, Caroline would like to focus on providing warm clothes during the colder months.
