And That’s Game!

Playoffs, City Finals, OFSAA and more:

Hockey: It is City Finals season in Varsity Hockey. The boy's varsity team faced off against Mother Teresa in the city finals on Wednesday, February 22nd, but lost 2-0 in a close hard fought battle. The boys came out flying but ended up down 1-0 early. After having a goal overturned, they would give up an empty net goal in the final minutes of the game. Despite not making OFSAA, the boys finished second in the city and had a great season that showed their resilience after many roster changes.

The Varsity Girls' hockey team is set to play St. Joseph in their City Final on March 1, at the Nepean Sportsplex. This long-lived rivalry will be the deciding factor in who makes the trip to Windsor for OFSAA so be sure to come out and support the girls on Wednesday!

Win or lose, both hockey teams had a great season and made good on Sacred Heart’s name as a hockey school.

Volleyball: The Senior girl's volleyball team played the ever-daunting Franco-Ouest in their City final on February 16 and unfortunately, lost in the fifth set. The match was close right from the beginning and sets were traded back and forth, but in the end, the girls were down by three in the fifth set and just couldn’t finish it. However, that is still back-to-back city finals for a volleyball team that has definitely made a name for itself here at Sacred Heart! Congrats on a great season!

Basketball: Sacred Heart’s senior boy's basketball team won their playoff game against St. Francis Xavier High School on February 16 in order to move on to the semi-finals. The boys travelled to Sir Wilfrid Laurier on Friday, February 24 where they, unfortunately, fell to the east-end team. Congrats to the boys on a hard-fought season; we are sure you’ll come back stronger next year!

Wrestling: Eight wrestlers made an appearance at the city finals and six of them qualified for OFSAA! Congratulations to the qualifiers and city champions and good luck at the big tournament in the coming week.

Congratulations to Eric Piercey who placed top three at the National Capital championships and a top ten finish at OFSAA in Skiing. Way to represent our school well!
