And That’s Game!

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Volleyball team on their big win against Nepean High School! Their 3-1 victory brings the Huskies their first City Championship since the school opened in 1999. Working effectively together on the court, this team was the dream team for coach DiCresce. All season, these girls picked each other up and won as a team and that didn’t end during the final game; missing their starting power Jada Whittal was definitely not ideal for the Senior Huskies, but they were able to come together and get the W anyway. The best news about this victory for the Huskies is that the Senior team was composed of mainly Grade 11 students. This means they will be back again next year to try to keep their title! So watch out West Division, because the future looks bright for Huskies Volleyball!

In the weeks leading up to the March break, Sacred Heart’s Varsity Hockey teams have been busy! The Varsity girls were sitting in first place heading into the break with a record of 4-0-2 with a notable 8-0 victory against St. Mark’s High School. Huskies Hockey has always been an accomplished program and this year’s group of Varsity Girls are surely maintaining the reputation. Similarly, the Varsity Boys are also holding down a first-place standing heading into their week off with another impressive record of 3-1-2. Their playoff games begin on March 24th against the fourth-place Mother Teresa High School.

The Senior Boys Basketball team collected their first win of the season on the Monday before break against St. Joseph High School. The Huskies got off to a good start with a quick ten-point lead and stayed ahead of the Jaguars for the rest of the game and finished the game with a 67-61 victory. That win puts the team at 1-3 on the season with two games left and they hope to be undefeated here on out in order to land themselves a playoff opportunity. The boys are back and looking to take the W against Woodroffe High School at home on the 22nd and Merivale High School in the home of the Marauders on the 24th. Good luck Huskies!
