Learning Commons Gone Virtual

Updated: Oct 20, 2021

Unfortunately, Covid-19 has put a pause on many awesome things, but not the library! Ms. McKee has great news for students! Through the student portal, students can access a website titled “Insignia”. Once you’re signed in with your school account, you will be looking at all the wonderful books available at SHHS! To check out a book the only thing you have to do is to click the book you are looking for (or hover over it), and hit reserve. In 2-3 days you should get an email saying to come and pick up your book. To pick your book up there are two carts in front of the Learning Commons library, one for dropping off books and one for picking up books. You find your name on the book… and it’s as simple as that! You can take out a maximum of one book at a time and if someone already has the one you are looking for, you can still reserve it and be placed in the hold line. When you are finished with your book just place it on the drop-off cart outside the Learning Commons. If you need a good book recommendation, the LC staff can always offer up suggestions also!

A little bit about Ms. McKee:

Ms. McKee is our Learning Commons (Sacred Heart’s library) technician. The demand for books is high and she has a big part in getting the books ready for pick up and sending the emails to students to let them know when books are ready for pick up. Ms. McKee decided to work in the library because she loves information and sharing it with others. She says that finding information is like a treasure hunt! She also says that having people check out books online is a little bit harder… but it’s definitely worth it!
